Based on Audis A4 line, the performance oriented S4 carries over the sedan from last year and adds the Avant wagon for 2001. The S4 is powered by a 250-hp turbocharged V-6 engine. A five-speed automatic transmission is standard with a six-speed manual available at no charge. Standard equipment includes power rack and pinion steering, power windows, a power central locking system, and a theft deterrent system. Optional packages include a Sport Package, Premium Package, and a Cold Weather Package for the sedan. The Premium Package contains a glass sunroof, auto-dimming inside and outside rearview mirrors, and a Homelink remote transmitter.
