Summary

The product is well built in America. The warranty and service ‘should’ be better than products made overseas. The Aranizer does help with odors and mold, but is a temporary fix for the mold. It has a control for variable output to handle continuous use or shock treatments. There is a long backlog from the factory, and I waited more than three weeks for a shipment that was promised in 48 hours. The distributor that handled my purchase was lousy (Aranistic-Air.com), and the family-run factory service to me as a purchaser was not much better. Read on.

Strength

Regardless of the distributor name, the product is made by Aran Aqua in Chippewa Lake, Ohio. This Aranizer has a heavy stainless steel case, knob control, and small hanging loop. It appears to be well made, and after four months of frequent use we have not had a problem with it. It is noiseless running at the very low continuous level. It has little noise at higher operation levels, due in part to the lack of a fan.

It took care of burnt cooking odors, and helps tremendously with mold (temporarily) and stale room smell. I prefer to use ozone to clean the air in the house as opposed to chemicals or covering odors with heavy scent. The product claims to generate O4, O5, O6....O15. This may have a slightly different effect on controlling odors than an O3 (ozone) generator. I do not know how long the O6 lasts, but by the time it reaches my nose, it smells the same as ozone. It kills odors the same as ozone, and has the same warnings as products that create ozone. One unique use I have for it is to hang washed towels in the bathroom, and turn it on high. It effectively kills all mold in the towels, and helps with the shower curtain.

I will continue to use this product as a shock treatment only, and would tepidly recommend the purchase to others. Please read the weaknesses.

Weakness

I ordered the Aranizer through the distributor Aranistic-Air.com. I was promised the shipment in 48 hours, with free shipping and free gifts. My credit card was charged for an amount higher than was discussed on the phone, due to the in-state tax. After three days I called to see where the product was. A recorded message said the number was disconnected. I found and called the factory (no small feat). They had my order, but said the product was back-ordered, and would not ship for at least two weeks. After two weeks I called the distributor on another number provided by the factory. The distributor claimed no knowledge of the delayed shipment. The shipment arrived after three weeks to my husband’s office. The factory and UPS charged the freight to his office UPS account without permission, using only the delivery address to find the account. Another call to the distributor had promises of a credit for the shipping costs. That never happened, even after repeat calls.

If the distributor has the product in stock, you should get shipment on-time. If it has to come from the factory, the order time can be lengthy. Ask these questions by phone before ordering online. Be ready to make follow up phone calls

The product itself has some weaknesses. It does not have a fan, but suggests using one for complete coverage in the room. Fewer moving parts equal fewer service calls to the factory. Any ozone generator will help with odors, but will not penetrate carpeting or furniture. There are conflicting reports on the safety and health of breathing elevated levels of ozone in the home. We do not use the Aranizer on the low continuous level. We use it only to shock treat one room at a time, then use a window fan to remove the ozone from the room.

The unit helps with mold temporarily. If the conditions for mold growth continue, such as a damp basement, the mold will come back. Shock treatments of ozone require removing all living things, water color paintings, and other items from the room before treatments. After a shock treatment you need to remove the ozone from the room with a fan. Are you willing to spend the time to do this on a weekly basis? I do prefer this compared to using chemicals to clean, or scents to cover the odors in the room.

Bottom line: the product is very well made in America. Getting it here required 9 phone calls, I still paid for the freight, and my husband’s boss was very unhappy with the UPS charge. The free gifts? I don’t consider it worth my time to request them. Use a different distributor, and make sure they have it in stock before ordering.
