Product Description

Welcome to the future. The iMac G5 offers all-in-one elegance that is delightfully affordable. Take in the view on a widescreen flat-panel display. Proudly display the iMac G5 in any room of your house - it is lightweight enough to move from your kitchen to the study or bedroom. The dazzling 17-inch provides the same screen area as a 19-inch CRT - with twice the brightness, sharpness and contrast. Hidden behind the display, you will find the entire computer: central processing unit (CPU), logic board, hard drive, optical drive, speakers, microphone and power supply. But you will actually find that the computer just fades away as you organise music and photos, or compose tunes and edit movies with the iLife 04 suite of integrated applications for your digital lifestyle. Whats more, since the iMac is wireless-ready, you donot even have to place it near a phone socket.

Summary

As I have mentioned in my other reviews, I am a first year medical student and spend a lot of time studying. One of the places I do a lot of studying is the anatomy lab here. The lab, like those at many other schools, has augmented its teaching through...

Strength

Screen, movablity, price

Weakness

Mouse, PC compatibility

Bottom Line

Another gem in the Apple line. If you need a maneuverable computer with power and functionality ( know how to use a Mac), then the G5 is for you.

Summary

Being employed makes people do rash things. Check that, being employed, single, and without children makes people do rash things. And so it was that I was staring at the 15 inch monitor of my 7 year old PC last month, shopping around online for a new...

Strength

Footprint, speed, beautiful LCD screen, quiet as anything, good value.

Weakness

One button mouse from hell.

Bottom Line

Quality, performance, and ease of use. The closest I've ever seen a computer come to becoming an appliance.

Summary

Hello. Let me tell you about my new iMac G5. I received my new iMac around October 7, 2004. I waited to review this thing until I had thoroughly used it and tested it with a variety of applications. I think I'm at that point. Following are the...

Weakness

I personally have a problem with my optical drive.

Bottom Line

Aside from the problem I'm having with my optical drive, this machine is the best computer I have ever used. That should say it all. 20 years of computing.

Summary

There is no doubt that the iMac G5 is an excellent model, both in speed and in appearance. Price wise, buying an iMac G5 is even more economical than the purchase of a Mac Mini plus a flat screen, keyboard and mouse. This model's footprint is so...

Strength

Nice and fast; small footprint; beautiful industrial design

Weakness

can be noisy; component failures on early production models

Bottom Line

Do NOT buy 2004/early 2005 models used/out of Applecare warranty: High chances of failure of mid-plane/power supply.

Summary

Setting: I've been using the iMac G5 at home now for 6 months and have found it to be very reliable. It is an incredible space saver since the CPU is built in to the flat panel monitor. Also the keyboard slides under the monitor when not in use...

Strength

Compact, elegant, plenty of screen landscape. Reasonably priced considering the combination of CPU, monitor, software.

Weakness

No PCI slots, but with USB 2.0, Firewire 800 and a builtin monitor why bother?

Bottom Line

If you need one machine that can do it all but won't cramp your space this is one to take seriously.
