Summary

Howdy. I received this scanner as a gift for Christmas, 2005. It was on my Amazon wish list. I did a fair amount of research before deciding on this scanner, but I was negligent with regard to one simple fact: apparently some hardware makers are...

Strength

the hardware is of good quality. produces high-quality images.

Weakness

transfers over USB 1.1! absolutely absurd for 2006.

Bottom Line

Stay away from this model and find something modern with USB 2.0. Scanning is basic stuff, folks. Why Canon screwed this up, I don't know.

Sometimes buttons do work when scanner and/or PC sleeps.

Bottom Line

An excellent general scanner for all kinds of home and prosumer scanning tasks. Many little benefits that aren't obvious before purchasing.

Summary

I purchased the LiDE 25 after reading excellent reports on other sites and in Computer Mags. I use Windows XP Pro and the scanner installed without a hitch and works perfectly. An excellent scanner for the first-time buyer as it is so simple to use...

Strength

Easy to learn-as-you-go. Inexpensive

Weakness

Operates at USB 1 speed - even so, it is not a slow scanner anyway.
