ConsumerREVIEW.com's Flash Ad Instructions

Tracking clicks on Flash Ads without using the fs command when the ad contains a single click thru.

Admanager counts a click when a call is made to the direct server. The direct server then issues a 302 object moved header to the Click URL specified in the UI. The URL that the direct server is called on cannot be hard coded into the ad. The direct server needs to set this URL when the ad is called. Traditionally in flash ads this has been done with the fs command, however there is another way. You can pass a URL into the GetURL action from the html file using the query string of the Param and Embed Src. Here is how to set this up in flash 5.

1 Edit the fla file.

2. Right click on the scene to edit and Select Movie Explorer.

3. In Movie Explorer select the object actions tab.

4. Find the action ,which is associated with the button (click).

5.Double-click this action to edit it. In the URL Box specify clickTAG. In flash, variables are case-sensitive. Make sure you name the variable clickTAG with "click" in lowercase and "TAG" in uppercase. In the Window box specify _blank if you would like this to open in a new window. Variables should be set to "Dont send" and the top "Expression" box should be checked.

6. Save these changes and publish the swf, html and gif file.

7. Place the swf file and gif files on your webserver.

8. Edit the html file that you just published. You will need to modify the Param and Embed src tags. Both tags will need to contain the full URL of the swf file. You will also need to append ?clickTAG=%%CLICKURL%% to this URL.

For example:

<OBJECT classid="clsid:D27CDB6E-AE6D-11cf-96B8-444553540000"
  codebase="http://download.macromedia.com/pub/shockwave/cabs/flash/swflash.cab#version=6,0,0,0"
  ID="UXC" WIDTH="720" HEIGHT="90" ALIGN="" >
	<PARAM NAME=movie VALUE="http://path to your file/banner.swf?clickTAG=%%CLICKURL%%">
	<PARAM NAME="quality" VALUE="high">
	<PARAM NAME="bgcolor" VALUE="#FFFFFF">
	<EMBED src="http://path to your file/banner.swf?clickTAG=%%CLICKURL%%"
  quality="high" bgcolor="#FFFFFF" WIDTH="720" HEIGHT="90"
  swLiveConnect="true" ID="UXC" NAME="UXC"
  ALIGN="" TYPE="application/x-shockwave-flash"
  PLUGINSPAGE="http://www.macromedia.com/go/getflashplayer"></EMBED>
</OBJECT>

9. Send the ad to traffic@ConsumerREVIEW.com
